Candice in Cambridge: Surviving Practice Lessons

So, I have had one week of training and I am totally exhausted.

Meeting all the other teachers has been amazing. I feel like I have a family here already. One of my greatest anxieties coming into the program was being away from California for the first time but Cambridge has proven to be a beautiful city. Not to mention that the staff at Cambridge makes the city seem all the more beautiful.
We turned in our first set of lesson plans last Saturday. While the process of writing lessons was fun, the reality is that I have had no experience and there were quite a few holes. Needless to say I have a lot of work to do before my students arrive on Monday. My mentor teachers are good at being supportive but I am feeling like a little tough love would really whip me into shape.

Practice lessons are horrible however, but remembering that I am doing this for the kids and not the other teachers really keeps me positive and confident.

Next week is coming fast and I can only hope that I am prepared because the students deserve nothing less than my best.
