At a turning point?

Teachers have traditionally been both the strongest advocates and fiercest opponents of large scale education reform.  The powerful unions lead the fight against any plan that could limit the salaries of the most experienced teachers, while often younger and charter school teachers want the chance to translate harder work into more money.  Teachers have long been weighted toward maintaining the current system (years+degrees=$$), but there are signs that the teacher community is shifting on this issue.
