Hanna in Miami:
Concerning lessons learned so far, I seem to be relearning lessons I had forgotten this past year. So much happens during a day at Breakthrough that sometimes we forget about that short hour we have in our classrooms. While ASM, Spirit Day, and staff meeting steal so much of my attention, my class seems to be left behind in the dust. But those forty five minutes of every day are all mine, when that room and those kids are completely under my spell and I can impart to them what little wisdom and knowledge I may have acquired in my short lifetime. Even when a lesson crashes and burns in my face, I have learned to appreciate the precious moments when my students are, whether happily or reluctantly, mine to teach.
Jessica in Saint Paul:
I have learned that the classroom and the students need structure. This is something that I have understood for a long time, however, I now know it is a lot harder to implement the same rules and expectations on a daily basis.
