Breakthrough applicant Frank Kotsianas sent me this message this afternoon. Huh. This newfangled “internet” thing just might be useful one day.
I’m not sure if this is something you guys would normally do, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to try. I follow the efforts of entrepreneur and author Tim Ferriss, who frequently uses social networking and other unconventional tools to raise awareness and funds for critical causes. His last effort (LitLiberation.org) raised $250,000 for literacy and funded schools in the US as well as in Vietnam. For his newest project, which lasts until Monday, Tim and an anonymous donor are donating $3 for each person who follows Tim (Handle: tferriss) on Twitter to US public schools through DonorsChoose.org. At the moment, the campaign has about 6,000 new followers, which is $20,000 to our schools!
If this is something you are interested in, you can find more information at http://bit.ly/3ourSchools or www.tweet2beat.com. I just thought I’d get the word out to large organizations, like Breakthrough, who could be interested in the cause and could create a significant effect. If you’d like, please pass this along to anyone who would be interested.
Thank you for your time,
